The Holy Grail of Fake Nails
Emi spotted this umbrella and called me over to peep it while we were shopping in Shinjuku. JAWDROP. Is that an umbrelly made with glamorous acrylic nails????? Simply amazing beyond words. Craft proj, anyone?
AAHH I love it!!!
That’s the one thing we didn’t get to do in Tokyo: get our nails did. We looked into it though, and found a salon that was open ’til 4am. UM YES 4AM I SAYS. That means that shit is still open after bars close in L.A. What kind of dreamland is this Tokyo??? We were planning on going (late after karaoke!) but time and liquor flew and it was pretty pricey anyway. We estimated it would probably cost about $200 to get a sick set of nails done at the venue.$200 for something that lasts only a week or two? HALE 2 THA NO. But then our friend informed us they use special materials and these ferosh Tokyo nails would last a month or longer. REALLY? Kinda crazy.

Tokyo is the land of nail decor. You can find a smorgasbord of crazy nail decals and accessories anywhere you go. Naturally we stocked up, so you’ll be seeing what types of goodies we acquired in future blog posts!

Nails on Film Quiz
HAYYY! Can you guess what movies the glamorous nails below are from? Whomever gets the most answers correct will win my favorite nail polish, one Strap Perfect (LOL but seriously why did I need like thirty of them? Don’t I need just one? It’s like trick or treat up in here– giving ‘em out like candy!), and one of my tacky corsages. Leave your answers in the comments! Hints: 1) some could be from the same movie, 2) movies I’ve talked about on here, 3) movies that I will talk about on here.
at about 1:15 BOO-YOW!!! (one of the best scenes ever that I impersonate for the past ten years of my life now)

Serious Lip Chap
Like you, I too am obsessed with lip chap. I blame my momma, who would always let me get TWO Flavor Saver Lip Balms whenever she placed an order from the Avon lady when I was a a kid. (Side note: I was also teased for having big MONKEY LIPS back then so now I am like FU HA! ’cause those same bitches probably have to get ‘em injected.) Anyway, when I went to California Adventure last week, I saw this chola bust out with a GIGANTIC lip balm…I have seen these monstrosities before but have never gotten one myself which is ridiculous since it combines my deep love of lip balm with my deep love of GIANT THINGS. That is a LOL in itself. I can’t wait til I’m at a stoplight with my stunna shades on, roll down the window, bust out my GIANT LIP BALM and go to town. IMAGINE? I will bust this out any time, any place. Before making out. “One mome, plz.” Then I proceed to saturate my face with a giant lip balm. (This cotton candy one sounds delish.)
Speaking of GIANT things, here is a video I never posted on here of me writing in a Lisa Frank diary with Star’s giant pencil. (Aw, I miss you and your giant pencil boo!)
Back to the lip balm, the past couple of years my addiction has decreased. I can go to sleep without putting some on but before that was a problem! M’lord! But for those of you who still have a strong addiction, I have found this. Good Luck!

Going Gaga for Bows
So I know The Gays love Lady GaGa and I might kind of a little, especially since that “Just Dance” song now reminds me of a recent clubbing moment when I was dancing to this song and a certain somebody next to me was rubbing their crotch like a goddamn magic lamp, as if some genie was about to come out of it! RUB IT GIRL. LEMME GRANT A WISH, SHAZAM. Anyway, let’s talk about how I want the following to happen to my hair ASAP:
WHAT? ARE YOU KIDDING ME WITH THAT BEAUTIFUL WEAVE BOW??? CAN MISS MARIE GET ONE?
Taking this everlasting trend to a whole ‘nother level, betch please. Additional thanks to Aretha, bows of every kind will continue to appear throughout 2009, trust. Soon it will be diva status to carve a bow in your muff, OK?!
On another note, doesn’t Lady GaGa remind you a little of Donatella V. or is that just me?

Dress Up Diary
The other night I went to a Bettie Page tribute burlesque show to see my gal Dizzy Von Damn! twirl her tassels and shimmy her shakes. This is what I wore:
{Details}
- vintage polka dot scarf
- F21 dress
- H&M heart purse
- red heart ring
- gold bracelet from childhood
- Target knee socks
- Soho Lab heels
Miss Dizzy and I
In other news this weekend I have been obsessively listening to Europe (THEY ARE MAJESTIC) and some usual slow jamz. Shaun and I decided we are going to be K.P. and Envyi for Halloween this year. Whenever the gang and I are at a hotel we put on a lil youtube and listen to a lot of LL Cool J and old r&b jams and “Shawty Swing My Way” is on CONSTANT ROTATION. ‘EAR DIS:
Best slow tempo breakdown of your life:
Then I walked ova to him slowly
said I know u don’t know me
but this might be my only
shot at a Tenderoni…
So this costume also means it may finally be the time I get some long, luxurious acrylic nails to get into character. I want them to be dragon status where you can hear me tap tap tapping away on my computer very slowly. I never wanted to get fake nails before because I always had naturally long nails since the fifth grade. Yes diva at age ten, ok? Anyway I think they are amazing and hilar but I am not sure if I can handle that kind of ferociousness. Well maybe for two days. I might have to just dive right in and go for it. Kind of like when I tried contacts, tampons, and sushi for the first time.
Okay, I’m seriously into this shit right now. Can anyone link me to some fabulous nail art blog where I can look at pictures of these all day?
Bonus: why does this song actually make me SWOON still fourteen years later? HAHA
AND EDIT: I forgot to blast one of my faves!

Hello Kitty & M.A.C. Pictures
More detailed pictures of the Hello Kitty for M.A.C. line have been circulating around the beauty blogs lately, helping me to make a decision on what to purchase in about a month when it launches on February 12th! Let’s take a peek courtesy of Specktra, Temptalia, and Beauty Anonymous…
First of all, I love these press shots by Nick Knight. Bows, patent leather and milk. Pretty obvious concept of making Hello Kitty sexy and edgy, but I still loves it.
I used to have this black patent leather Hello Kitty wallet with a hot pink bow that I LOVED (even though it could barely fit an ID card and five dollhairs) and the look of the line reminds me a lot of it. As for the actual makeup colors, I think a lot of them are pretty sweet, especially the silver nail polish. It’s been awhile since I wore that sort of color. I’m digging it. The white is hot too. Thoughts?
I don’t think I’ll be splurging on any accessories like I did with the Fafi line other than the brush holder and maybe the keychain. I’m not into the bags that much. I could probably find a cuter one at an actual Sanrio! What do you HK fanatics think of everything?
PS. This ain’t the first time HK tried to get a ‘lil wild. Aiiii!

Babyface Xmas Tree and Other Tidbits
I’ve always wanted a pink Christmas tree, so when I found a cute one that was also surprisingly very cheap, I knew I would have fun decorating it. I have bigger plans for it, but this was too hard to resist. What else do you do when you open up your craft drawer and see ten babyfaces smiling at you? They will be watching.
Maybe tomorrow I’ll start over and decorate it with the other Babyface. When will I stop with the 90′s slow jams?
A couple weeks ago my friend Emine took me to get my first macaron at Boule. Macaron not Macaroon. And yes, it was like a piece of cookieburger heaven in my mouth. The rose flavor was my favorite.
This past weekend I finally tried a Boba (I had the coconut milk tea). That experience was long overdue for probably ten years. And yes, it was tasty. It also made me miss Orbitz.
So many first times for things! What could be next? My first durian? I already did that. I’d link you to the picture but it’s not as cute as a face. I promise! Stank ass fruit, OH-KAY!
Emi and I also enjoyed a nice spa day at Cote d’Azur courtesy of the nice people at goldstar.com. It was probably the best massage I have ever had. Usually after a massage, I feel like I got my ass beat and slapped around and sometimes I even leave with bruises, but this one was perfect. I felt very relaxed, yet energized afterwards, and not at all sore or out of it. Am I the only one that usually feels that way after a massage?
I also bought the best perfume in the world. Since I love candy and sweet scents, I was ecstatic to find a fragrance at Anthropologie that smells like Easter to me. That really makes no goddamn sense but you know how I am with the power of scent! It smells like grape and My Little Pony. But it’s called Sweet Pea and Vanilla! It is made by Skeem, which you can find here.
I wish my website was scratch-n-sniff so I could spray it on my screen and you guys could take a good whiff. Maybe Apple can create that feature by the time I get a new laptop?

Hello Kitty for M.A.C.
I have this saying in life, “Hello Kitty transcends any age.” It’s true, no? There’s plenty of us Sanrio fans who carried Pochacco tin boxes as purses in the sixth grade and now own Hello Kitty toasters as adults. So with the news that the M.A.C. Hello Kitty line will be dropping in a couple of months, it is certain there will be plenty of, ahem, mature ladies (ME INCLUDED OF COURSE) who will be stocking up on all the goodies.
M.A.C. has been serious about this whole collaboration thing. There was Barbie last year, then my fave Fafi (which I bought almost all of), Heatherette, Dame Edna (seriously wtf is up with that one, looks kind of wack status) now HK!! Really though, what can we expect next? Have they tapped out all resources for future teamups? Can we bring back Lisa Frank for this mutha? I miss me some Lisa Frank (the old school style). Will they do a Lucha Libre-inspired M.A.C. line? Bettie Page? Betty Boop? Tammy Faye (RIP)? M.A.C. peeps-in-charge, do you see how I am giving you all these ideas? You need to hire me to think of these things all day. Also, do you think if M.A.C. was big in the nineties they would have asked the Spice Girls to collab? I do. Union Jack shimmery powder compact, I know you are feeling me.
Back to good ol’ HK, so now all I need to happen is my dream collaboration that I have wanted for many years to come true…the Victoria Secret Very Sexy Hello Kitty Pushup bra. Thank you.

Things I Love Thursday

+ My favorite HOT PINK nail polish. I first found this intense day-glo nail polish last summer and have been working it nonstop this year as well. It’s so bright that when I’m wearing black fishnets you can see me coming from miles away. I like to call it my Poochie nail polish. Remember that cartoon about the pink dog from the ’80′s, Poochie?. You can see how neon this shit is in this picture of me at the Coilhouse launch party. I love wearing all black with a boner burst of obnoxious color somewhere.
+ Love letters between best friends in song form. Danger Baby’s new song “Little Misfit” is a catchy tune paying homage to a certain other lovely Mickay Micks. My friends make me all GUSHY. I can’t stop listening! I just want to take off my dress and dance! Add them on Myspash!
+ Impromptu slumber parties with my bff drinking lots and lots of vino, eating greasy cheese pizza, re-watching Daisies, Breakfast at Tiffany’s and Ghost World, dancing like a flapper in my favorite Edie Sedgwick-esque uniform of black tights and an H&M white baby tee, wearing gorilla masks and top hats, laughing nonstop and just being silly girls…and not being hungover the next morning when going into work.
Hope your Thursday is just as delicious.
XO
