Bruja Icons: Bell, Book and Candle
It’s time for another BRUJA STYLE ICON! This time I screencapped the late 50′s movie Bell, Book and Candle. It stars Kim Novak as a classy bruja living in New York City who falls in love with her (regular human) neighbor played by Jimmy Stewart.
The costume design in the movie naturally won an Academy Award. HALLOW Look at these outfits!!! They were made by Jean Louis who was one of the defining designers of that time in Los Hollywoods.
I know it’s 90 degrees but I need a cloak AND a muff
I also need this hooded all black everything
I’d even poof my bangs like that if you need me too
Love the dashes of yellow

I adore this movie and her wardrobe is the best! We’re playing it at our Backyard Movies this year (actually next month!). It’s always been one of my favorites and one of my favorite NYC movies too.

I have never seen this movie! Adding it to my Netflix. The hood with the sleek suit is gorgeous! Oh, and totally getting my muff out this winter. It belonged to my grandma – black mink with a tiny zip pocket inside. I’ve never used it before. Can’t wait!

Love this movie! Kim Novack is awesome and her style is sublime here –sensual, mystical– perfectly chosen. Altho, don’t like the yellow dress she wears when she’s de-witchified.
